Tim Samuelson is a preservationist and cultural historian in Chicago. He has served on the Chicago Commission on Historical and Architectural Landmarks and has been Chicago's official cultural historian since 2002.

He speaks about the early years (teaching without a curriculum), the interdisciplinary character of the department, accomplishments of his students, challenges his department faced over the years, and the future of the program at the time of his retirement.
